The Hollow Man features Kevin Bacon in the title role as Sebastian Caine, a scientist who discovers a formula for invisibility. After an experiment makes him slowly disappear, Cane begins to go insane, and soon threatens the lives of his fellow researchers. Elizabeth Shue and Josh Brolin star as the targets of Cane's mayhem, along with William Devane, Kim Dickens and Mary Jo Randle.

Shooting was delayed while actress Elisabeth Shue recovered from an torn Achilles tendon sustained during filming.

You know what, Matt? It's amazing what you can do... when you don't have to look at yourself in the mirror any more.

Plot holes: The elevator to enter the lab requires a visible-light thumb scan, but Caine enters the lab (and apparently not by following someone) after he has become invisible. A fingerprint is not sufficient for the type of scanner shown. (A deleted scene shows that this was originally acknowledged and that Caine sneaked onto the elevator when someone else used the scanner.)
