In 1982, a massive star ship bearing a bedraggled alien population, nicknamed "The Prawns," appeared over Johannesburg, South Africa. Twenty-eight years later, the initial welcome by the human population has faded. The refugee camp where the aliens were located has deteriorated into a militarized ghetto called District 9, where they are confined and exploited in squalor. In 2010, the munitions corporation, Multi-National United, is contracted to forcibly evict the population with operative Wikus van der Merwe in charge. In this operation, Wikus is exposed to a strange alien chemical and must rely on the help of his only two new 'Prawn' friends.

I came into this movie expecting it to be a very cheesy, over-expensive movie that really had no real complex plot; to my surprise though, I got the opposite. This movie is one of the top sci-fi movies of all time. A great complex, with an amazing set of graphics and animation bring this tale to life in a epic and thrilling way that was unexpected to me. Rating: 5/5

Very goo movie indeed, was a little sceptical about where the whole filming was made ( S.Africa, Johannesburg) but was wrong , great movie!

Just watched it in high quality DivX streaming using one of the links here. Boy, do I LOVE this site! Anyhowwws.... This movie is freakin' awesome! Best alien movie ever. My girlfriend also thought it was great.

I just watched this movie. Fantastic movie. Great story, good acting and excellent special effects. One of my top films of 2009!
