A high-class call girl kills a customer in self-defense. To avoid scandal, her parents try to have her declared mentally incompetent. Not helping matters is that she is very distrustful of everybody, including her court-appointed attorney, and is very disruptive during her court hearings.

Maureen StapletonRose KirkMark Rydell was the first director attached to this film, with Barbra Streisand interested in playing Claudia. However, Rydell cast the younger Debra Winger instead. Then Streisand came back after Winger pulled out. Then Rydell left the project, and Streisand hired Martin Ritt. Streisand says she was genuinely frightened of Leslie Nielsen, who managed to convince her he was dangerous. She says she wishes she had "fought back" more in their dramatic sequence together, but that he really did scare her.

Do you have certain questions that you ask?
Claudia Draper:
No. I just go by the seat of my pants.
Allen Green:
Well how am I doing?
Claudia Draper:
I'm about to slide off my chair.

With more than a million titles, it isn't feasible to handpick recommendations for every film. That's why we came up with a formula to suggest titles that fit along with the selected one. The formula uses factors such as user votes, genre and keywords to generate an automatic response. The system produces relevant results most of the time but since recommended titles are not manually chosen, occasionally they may include less than perfect matches.
