According to family tradition, Gabriel Higgs must go to John Hopkin College. The only problem is that he is on a waiting list with six people in front of him. To take care of that, Gabriel tries to bribe the people ahead of him into dropping off the list. Gabriel soon becomes a murder suspect, however, when people start dying right after he contacts them.

According to director Doug Liman, the title sequence was shot for $500 using his out-of-pocket funds. He brought the cat along to chase the rats and motivate them to run, but the rats weren't afraid of the cat. Rather, the opposite was true, so Liman filmed the rats chasing the cat and then re-edited the footage.
