Adapted from David Lloyd's graphic novel of the same name, "V for Vendetta" tells the story of Evey Hammond and her unlikely but instrumental part in bringing down the fascist government that has taken control of a futuristic Great Britain. Saved from a life-and-death situation by a man in a Guy Fawkes mask who calls himself V, she learns a general summary of V's past and, after a time, decides to help him bring down those who committed the atrocities that led to Britain being in the shape that it is in.

Being huge fans of the original comic series, The Wachowski brothers (Andy Wachowski and Larry Wachowski) wrote a draft of the script in the '90s before they worked on The Matrix (1999), which shares several similar themes with "V for Vendetta".

And they created a monster.

Revealing mistakes: When V says that he has never danced to any of the songs on his Jukebox, a song is playing in the background, yet there is no record seen playing on the jukebox. This occurs even after V presses the button to activate the song.
