In a violent post-apocalyptic society, a drifter, Eli, has been wandering westward across North America for the last thirty years. He finds solace in a unique book which he carries on his person and guards closely, whilst surviving by hunting small animals and seeking goods in destroyed houses and vehicles to trade in villages for water and supplies. When he reaches a village ruled by the powerful mobster, Carnegie, the man views Eli's impressive fighting skills and offers Eli a place within his gang. Carnegie presses his blind lover Claudia to send her daughter, Solara, to at least convince Eli to spend the night by sleeping with him. However, Eli proves to be the better man when he gently declines her advances. The girl sees Eli's book, and when Carnegie finds out he beats her mother until she reveals what she saw. Carnegie sends his gang into the wasteland to take the book from Eli, but the man proves to be a formidable foe as he makes it more than clear that if they want the book, they must first take his life.

Stay on the path. It's not your concern. Stay on the path. It's not your concern.

Continuity: At the hijacker scene when Eli is talking to the girl the background behind him is black because of the tunnel. The next time you see him it is blue sky then the next time it is tunnel again.

Quantum of SolaceWith more than a million titles, it isn't feasible to handpick recommendations for every film. That's why we came up with a formula to suggest titles that fit along with the selected one. The formula uses factors such as user votes, genre and keywords to generate an automatic response. The system produces relevant results most of the time but since recommended titles are not manually chosen, occasionally they may include less than perfect matches.

5 THUMBS UP! REALLY GOOD MOVIE OF THE YEAR!
He was not blind throughout the film. He was blind before the apocalyptic event, that's why he knew braille. While he was on his mission of taking the Bible to the west, he received the gift of sight. During the film, he could see, and I can mention far more details besides the already mentioned in the original topic made by the creator of this topic. Shooting, fighting, the scene where he saw the bikers abusing of a woman... he was LOOKING at it and repeating to himself how he couldn't interfere, that he had to keep his way.
Once he completed his mission, he lost his gift. When you go to war, they army gives you your weapons, once you return home, you have to hand them in. Sight was a weapon God gave Eli during his trip.
was Eli blind throughout the movie?
Rubbish film, wesley snipes should have played the role of Eli as Denzel wanted to be him so badly. Gary Oldman normally plays excellent roles but was disapointing in this one. Wouldnt see it again.
