A young pilot who is the fiance of the daughter of the owner of a airline is tricked into enlisting as a mercenary fighter pilot for a small nation's airforce by a malicious false friend. Now he battles to earn the money necessary to buy his freedom before he truly loses his humanity in the horror of war.

All airlines shown on the series are actual airlines. The lone exception is Yamato Air Lines, which was created for the show (as a good deal of the plot revolves around it.)

Incorrectly regarded as goofs: By law, when an actor portrays military personnel in a movie or TV show they are required to be what the military calls "out of uniform". For example, ribbons or medals out of order, or improper insignia on clothing or hats. This is so that technically they are not impersonating military personal.
