Charlotte Henry Biography
Acted from the age of five, and, at thirteen, made her Broadway debut in 'Courage' (1928). She reprised her role on screen in her first movie in 1930. Paramount, wanting to cast an unknown actress in the title role of Alice in Wonderland (1933), picked Charlotte from nearly 7000 applicants worldwide (she was 57th to audition). Unfortunately, the picture flopped, in spite of an excellent supporting cast, which included W.C. Fields, Cary Grant, Gary Cooper and Edna May Oliver. Charlotte then appeared as Bo-Peep in Babes in Toyland (1934) with Laurel & Hardy, but thereafter found rewarding roles few and far between. She returned to theatrical work in the early 1940's.
