Deborah Wakeham Biography
Deborah Wakeham was a member of the Beverly Hills Playhouse and has starred in TV series and Features. Her first play, "UNVME", garnered "Critics' Choice Awards" and "Best Writer", "Best Actor" and "Best Production" awards. The Los Angeles Times called her "gifted" and compared her satirical writing to that of Woody Allen.She focused on film and television work and shortly thereafter was hired to write for the series, "Pacific Blue" (1996) (USA Network). Deborah co-wrote and starred in the mini-series, "The Riverman" (1989), which was shot on location in Africa. Her experience in Africa created a desire to write about other cultures. Her next film, a two-hour feature for India, Nothing But Life (2004), was co-authored with award-winning director Rajiv Anchal and filmed in the South Indian state of Kerala and New Mexico. Her next job allowed her to live in South America for a year, where she starred in a TV series called, "Foreign Affairs" (1992).In 2003, Deborah formed her own production company, Lucid Dreams Inc., and received development deals on five of her scripts with Telefilm, Canada's largest funding agency, as well as Corus Entertainment, Canada's Largest Multi-Media Company and BC FILM. Lucid Dreams Inc., is in prep on her 10 million 3D tween thriller Night Wings (2011) and "Insect Idol". In 2010, Deborah opened an office in New Orleans with producer Colin Bates, Lucid Dreams New Orleans.
