In the episode Daddy's Little Girl, the WB originally planned to air it without bleeping the word "shit". However, this decision was changed sometime over the weekend before the episode aired.

The character 'Andy Brown' was ranked #43 in TV Guide's list of the "50 Greatest TV Dads of All Time" (20 June 2004 issue).

For the first two seasons, the possibility of a romantic relationship between Andy and Nina was a popular subject for fans on the internet. The shows writers and producers answered this in the season three episode "Sacrifice", with Nina realizing that she's in love with Andy.

In a few episodes of the show, Brenda Strong played a character who died in the pilot and later returned in flashbacks, dream sequences, etc. She did the same again in "Desperate Housewives" (2004).

During the 4th season, two finales were filmed. One to be used if the show got picked up for a 5th season and the other if the show was being canceled. They ended up using the series finale. The alternate ending involved Madison Sarah Lancaster returning to town to find Ephram just as he was about to see Amy. She was supposed to be a part of season five, because her show, "What About Brian" (2006), was not expected to be picked up for season two, but it was.
