Tv Show Plot

Parody accordianist "Weird Al" Yankovic saves TV producer JB Toppersmith (Stan Freberg) from a bear trap and gets a television contract. Al's show comprises of hanging out with his friends Harvey the Wonder Hamster, The Hooded Avenger (Brian Haley), Cousin Corky (Danielle Weeks), Madame Judy (Judy Tetuna), Valerie Brentwood, Gal Spy (Paula Jai Parker), Mrs. Fesenmeyer (Patricia Place), and Bobby the Inquisitive Boy (Gary LeRoi Gray) as they answer Al's Mailbag, watch educational films, watch Fatman cartoons, have Harvey do death defying stunts, see what's on the other channels (including News Anchor Al, Aerobic Instructor Al, the Fred Huggins show, the Uncle Ralphie show, Siskel and Ebert, and Martha Quinn public service announcements), and sing some of Al's famous songs or songs from a special musical guest. Each episode, by FCC requirement, had a lesson, usually given by The Hooded Avenger.

Trivia

The show's theme song contains the lyrics, "Well, the very next year he met a dental hygienist with a spatula tattooed on her arm." This is a double-edged reference to UHF (1989) where Al's girlfriend was a dental hygienist played, and in which a "Spatula City" skit/ad also appears.

Quotes

Dr. Philips:
You have a TV show?

Al:
Yeah, in fact, we're on TV right now! Look! (looks at camera)

Dr. Philips:
Hi, Mom! Oh, I'm sorry, that cameraman looks just like my mother.

Recommendations

How do we recommend titles?

With more than a million titles, it isn't feasible to handpick recommendations for every film. That's why we came up with a formula to suggest titles that fit along with the selected one. The formula uses factors such as user votes, genre and keywords to generate an automatic response. The system produces relevant results most of the time but since recommended titles are not manually chosen, occasionally they may include less than perfect matches.
